Organised by BOHO, MFOK (Movement Festival of Kerala) is envisioned as Kerala’s first large scale International Contemporary Dance and Performance Festival. The festival serves as a platform for performers, teachers & performance makers to connect through workshops, performances & discussions creating a unique cultural ecosystem

MFOK, being an International Dance festival, features renowned International and National Artists in Performances, Workshops, Seminars & Community Outreach Programs. The Prelude Workshops are scheduled to happen between NOV 17 & NOV26 at AAL SPACE Kochi, where 3 renowned teachers SARAH ELSWORTH (New Zealand), ABHILASH NINGAPPA(Bangalore) & SHIRAZ DAGAN (Israel) are the facilitators. The Performance Festival begins with an Inaugural Function at Fine Arts Hall on Nov 27th, followed by the performance REFLET by Compagnie Xuan Le (France) On the following 3 days (Nov 28,29 & 30th), the festival continues at JT PAC Kochi with 7 performances happening over the 3 days. Among the 7 performances are renowned performers namely Mythili Prakash-India US, Myan Dance company-Mumbai, Dakshina Dance company-Chennai and many more.

Artist Bio

Xuan LE

Artistic director and choreographer

Formerly a freestyle slalom competitor (French champion and 6th in the world in 2009), Xuan LE quickly developed a passion for dance. By merging these two disciplines, he creates a hybrid and mixed-race style.

He collaborates with several choreographers and is notably involved in:

The French company Käfig by Mourad Merzouki, Cirque Éloize in Montreal, the Opéra du Capitole in Toulouse, and the Danish company Next Zone by Lene Boel.

SHIHYA PENG

Choreographer and performer

Born in Taiwan, Shihya has been dancing since the age of 8. Trained in classical, contemporary and traditional Chinese dance, she is also interested in martial arts and hip-hop dance.

After a Master of Fine Arts in modern and contemporary dance in the United States, she moved to France in 2012 and worked with various companies:

Wang Ramirez, Eric Minh Cuong Casting, Jann Gallois, Barbara Matijevic and Giuseppe Chico, François Chaignaud, Karine Saporta, James Carlès, Collective (LA) HORDE, Théâtre du Châtelet, the Marseille Opera, the Troupe de l'Imaginaire of the Théâtre de la Ville de Paris…

- Re-entry to the venue is not allowed once the event has started.
- Children below 10 years must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis unless specified otherwise.
- Professional cameras, video recording, or live streaming are strictly prohibited inside the performance venue without prior permission.
- After every Show you are requested to Clear the Hall and re enter for the next show, happening in the same venue

- Tickets are non-transferable and non-refundable.
- The organizers reserve the right to reschedule, cancel, or modify the event or ineup due to unforeseen circumstances. In such cases, the organizer’s liability is limited to the ticket value (excluding platform fees)
