TISHRA CHATUSHRA

TISHRA CHATUSHRA – A Kathak & Percussion Evening in Kochi

Tishra-Chatushra is a captivating exploration of the rhythmic interplay between three (Tishra) and four (Chatushra), presented through a dynamic dialogue between Kathak dance and percussion. VYOM Arts Management Venture and Nisarga present a unique evening at Nisarga Art Hub, Kochi, on Saturday, 21 November 2026, where two rhythmic worlds converse.

Witness the elegance of Kathak in its purest form: the expressive eyes, graceful mudra, and timeless charm of the Kathak tradition coming alive on stage, in conversation with live percussion.

If you're looking for a Kathak performance in Kochi, a classical dance evening in Kerala, or a Kathak workshop in Kochi this November, Tishra-Chatushra offers both a performance and a workshop with lunch.

Meet the Artists

Amruta Paranjape – Kathak Artist

Amruta Paranjape is the founder and artistic director of Abhivyakti School of Kathak, a Kathak choreographer, and a teacher. A performer at heart, she mesmerises audiences with her command over intricate laya-taal (rhythm) and captivating abhinaya. A senior disciple of Guru Shambhavi Dandekar, she has presented her work as a soloist in India and abroad. Her approach to choreography is traditional, with many projects based on contemporary themes. Known for her powerful abhinaya and intricate footwork, she brings stories alive through rhythm.

Umesh Warbhuvan – Percussionist

Umesh Warbhuvan is a distinguished percussionist known for his mastery of both Indian and African  instruments. His sound marries traditional Indian percussion with contemporary rhythmic experimentation, drawing inspiration from classical tala, folk drumming, African grooves, and global sonic aesthetics. His performances are immersive, rhythm-led journeys, fuelled by live percussion, drums, and ambient electronics.
